New Hampshire's State Office of Rural Health (SORH) offers technical assistance to rural health care providers and organizations and provides healthcare related information to rural healthcare stakeholders. SORH serves as a liaison between rural healthcare organizations and many DHHS programs. The SORH also funds the Rural Medical Scholars program with the goal of preparing medical students as leaders in providing medical care to rural and underserved populations.
The Rural Hospital Flexibility Program is a federally funded program known most widely for creating Critical Access Hospitals. This program assists small rural hospitals to evaluate the most favorable federal reimbursement opportunities, improve access to health care services, work with other community based organizations and strengthen local Emergency Medical Services (EMS) systems.
