When an individual in a training or education program takes a scheduled, short-term break, continue payments for child care services when all of the following apply:
• The child would otherwise lose their slot with the provider; and
• Payments for such breaks do not exceed 30 days in any 12-month period.
When an individual in a training or education program takes an unscheduled or long-term break, do the following:
1. Terminate payment for child care services if the individual is not participating in another training or education program or seeking employment.
2. Allow payments for the unused portion of the original two-year time period when the individual:
Requests child care services;
Meets the child care services eligibility criteria; and
Returns to the training or education program.
