Prevention Services
The goal of the Bureau of Drug & Alcohol Services (BDAS) Prevention Services Unit is to prevent the onset and reduce the progression of substance abuse across all age groups, including underage drinking and the misuse and abuse of alcohol and/or other drugs, and to reduce the burden of substance abuse and related consequences for communities.

teenPrevention is defined as a proactive process which empowers individuals and communities to meet the challenges of everyday life events and transitions by creating and reinforcing healthy behaviors and lifestyles, ultimately reducing risks that contribute to alcohol, tobacco, and other drug misuse and their consequences on the individual and the community.

The BDAS Prevention Services Unit develops and supports a comprehensive statewide prevention system consisting of 13 Regional Public Health Networks Adobe Acrobat Reader Symbol (RPHN). Each network services a defined geographical area that allows communities to address local level needs as it relates to alcohol and other drugs. RPHNs mobilize and convene community level stakeholders to be proactive in creating communities that support healthy lifestyles.

NH Regional Public Health Networks – transitioning from 10 to 13 regional networks

The New Hampshire Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Services in partnership with the Division of Public Health Services has developed a newly designed Regional Public Health Network (RPHN) infrastructure that supports community-based alcohol and drug misuse prevention and emergency preparedness in all New Hampshire communities.

RPHN Coordinators engage community leaders, coordinate community action, and monitor comprehensive prevention plans to meet a wide range of local needs and opportunities.

The RPHNs are presently being restructured. A Lead Contractors list and regional map will be available soon.

In the meantime please contact Ann Crawford for your local community contacts at 603-271-6892.
