• Boomerang Used Furniture Business – Plymouth

Boomerang Used Furniture and Funky Stuff, Ltd. is a for profit corporation that is governed as a cooperative. This used furniture store is worker owned and operated. Four of the members experience a disability and are business owners as a result of this collaborative effort. Boomerang consigns used furniture for resale to the community.

• Self-Employment – My Own Business/My Own Boss (MOB) – Keene

The goal of the My Own Business (MOB) pilot in the Monadnock region is to increase self-employment opportunities for people with disabilities by creating a coordinated system of community based supports that guide the individual through the steps to sustainable self-employment.

This pilot program is collaborative project of MCST and Vocational Rehabilitation, with community business partners, including MicroCredit NH, the Small Business Development Center and the Hannah Grimes Center. To view the Project’s MOB training outline,

• Entrepreneurial Success Project - Nashua

This project is meant to develop on infrastructure around individuals with disabilities who are interested in starting their own business and being self-employed. Opportunity Networks is leading this pilot and receiving technical assistance from the national consultants, Griffin and Hammis.

This pilot includes a series of trainings involving community-based trainings that are open to anyone in the state, as well as individualized technical assistance for 5 individuals and their support teams to help them determine a business model and start the development of their business. Coinciding with the indivudalized plans, Griffin and Hammis will help the project team identify funidng sources (ie: VR, Microcredit, SBA, etc) for future business
development and planning. The goal is to develop long-lasting relationships with potential funders and to understand the role and position that each entity can bring to the table.
