Outreach

Community Listening Sessions Adobe Acrobat Reader Symbol – Over the period of May 12, 2008 to July 22, 2008, the Bureau of Elderly and Adult Services in collaboration with the State Committee on Aging and the Institute on Disability at UNH, conducted seventeen community listening sessions throughout the State to hear what seniors and local service providers thought about the transformation efforts taking place in the long term care services system. The listening sessions were held as part of the Systems Transformation Grant work plan as a means of public outreach and comment. BEAS also plans to use the findings from these sessions as a documentation of need for the upcoming State Plan on Aging.

Participant Experience Survey 2008 Adobe Acrobat Reader Symbol – The Bureau of Elderly and Adult Services, supported by funding from a federal grant, Real Choice Quality Improvement Quality Assurance Grant, performed face-to-face surveys on a valid sample of participants in the Choices for Independence program. The statewide survey, completed over several months in calendar year 2008, included questions about participants' experiences with and how they felt about the services and supports they received.

Participant Experience Survey 2010 Adobe Acrobat Reader Symbol – The Bureau of Elderly and Adult Services, supported by funding from the System Transformation Grant, and in collaboration with the University of New Hampshire, performed its second survey of a valid sample of participants in the community based Choices for Independence Program (CFI). The 2010 survey included all the questions asked in 2008 and additional questions regarding participants’ experiences when applying for the CFI program and how their providers were chosen.

Administration on Aging National Survey 20011. The Bureau of Elderly and Adult Services (BEAS) was chosen by the US Administration on Aging (AoA) to participate in the Sixth National Survey of Older Americans Act Participants. Randomly selected individuals and caregivers, who receive AoA funded services in New Hampshire, have been selected for participation in this national study. The AoA funded services consist of congregate meals, home delivered meals, homemaker, and family caregiver services.

Focus Groups – BEAS chartered three focus groups in 2009, with a common goal of getting feedback from stakeholders. They are:

  • Information
  • Social Service/Contracts
  • Home and Community Based Care
  • MED - Medical Eligibility Determination
