NH Early Childhood and Afterschool Professional Development System

In 1999, House Bill 726, Credentialing of Personnel in Early Care and Education Programs, was passed and signed by the Governor. This bill enables DHHS to issue a voluntary credential to those in child care professions who meet or exceed the criteria set in the child care licensing regulations.

In the fall of 2008, a Credential Revision Task Force began the work of revising the NH Early Childhood Professional Development System. At the same time, a new Afterschool Credential Task Force began to create and develop the NH Afterschool Professional Development System. Criteria of both systems include Core Knowledge Areas, Education and Specialized Coursework, Work Experience, On-going Training, and Professional Activities. Each professional Development system is posted, including application forms for each system. Individuals may apply for more than one Credential as long as they meet the required guidelines.
