Cash Benefits
Cash Assistance payments are issued twice per month on the 15th and 30th. In February cash assistance is issued on the 15th and the last day of the month. Your Family Services Specialist will help you complete the forms for Direct Deposit of Cash Assistance to your bank account. If you do not have a bank account, your Cash Assistance will be deposited to an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) account.
Food Benefits
Food Stamp benefits are issued on the 5th of each month to an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) account.
Direct Deposit
Direct Deposit to your checking or savings account makes your Cash Assistance available to you in the same way as any other cash in your bank account. You may choose to receive your Cash Assistance by Direct Deposit.
- How to Enroll – Talk to your Family Services Specialist about Direct Deposit in your checking or savings account. Your Family Services Specialist will ask you for the bank routing numbers found on your check.
NH Electronic Benefits Transfer
Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) is a debit card issued by the Department of Health and Human Services. You can use your EBT card at stores and Automated Teller Machines (ATM). EBT provides confidential and secure access to your Food Stamps and Cash Assistance. To use cash or food stamp benefits, swipe the EBT card through a point of sale (POS) machine at participating retailers. Only you and the store clerk know State Assistance is being used to pay for the items.
You can withdraw your cash benefits at Automated Teller Machines (ATM) that display the QUEST logo. Any bank surcharges or additional transaction fees for use of the ATM will be deducted from your cash benefits at the time of the cash withdrawal.
Direct Vendor Payments
A fast and easy way to have part or all of your Cash Assistance payment sent directly to your landlord. If the payment sent to your landlord is less then your total monthly rent you are responsible to pay your landlord the balance.
- How to Enroll – Tell your Family Services Specialist that you want your cash benefits direct deposited into your landlord's checking or savings account. The Family Services Specialist will mail a form to your landlord to complete.
