Community Public Health Development

The Community Public Health Development Section's (CPHDS) mission is to build effective local, regional, and state public health infrastructure by providing quality training, education, and technical assistance. Our goals are to improve the competency of the public health workforce and increase the capacity within communities and regions to improve the public's health. A critical aspect of NH's public health emergency preparedness plan is to develop a coordinated regional public health infrastructure. Developing this coordinated infrastructure also increases the capacity in communities and regions to improve overall community health.

The CPHDS currently supports 14 regional Public Health Networks (PHNs), which are local collaboratives of local governments, individuals, and organizations that work together to protect and promote the health and safety of the members of their region. They accomplish this by enhancing the delivery of the 10 Essential Public Health Services. Together these organizations and individuals make up the local public health system. As emergency preparedness capacity is achieved, the PHNs will also provide an umbrella for convening and coordinating other local public health-focused coalitions and networks. The Public Health Emergency Preparedness Education and Training unit collaborates with a broad array of public health and safety partners to deliver training and education programs. For more information about available training programs visit www.nh.train.org.
