RADIATION HEALTH PHYSICIST III
NEW HAMPSHIRE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES
Division of Public Health Services / Concord
Salary Range: $46,722.00 - $55,497.00

SCOPE OF WORK: Perform independent inspections and evaluation of Mammography machines to comply with Mammography Quality Standard Act (MQSA).  Promotes a standard of quality in diagnostic radiology through regulation, research and development of policies and procedures for state and federal programs.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major studies in health physics, radiation physics, or a radiological, physical, chemistry or biological science including course work in math through basic calculus.  If degree is in a field other than one of the above, then one of the following must have been obtained in addition to the degree. 

  • Completion of Navy Nuclear School for Radioactive Materials Career Path; OR
  • AART (American Registry of Radiological Technologists) Certification related to radiation-generating equipment; OR
  • CHP (Certified Health Physicist) Certification.

Experience: Six years' experience in a Radioactive material or radiation-generating equipment regulatory program.

Special Requirements: Must be at least 18 years old. Must be willing and able to perform job duties characterized as a radiation worker, as per the New Hampshire Rules for the Control of Radiation. Must be willing to travel for extended periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred experience in radiology, radiological health, radiological science, and health physics, or radiologic technology, with responsibility for program implementation, directs service delivery, planning or program evaluation and rule making.

License/Certification:  Valid driver’s license and/or access to transportation for statewide travel.  Must obtain United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) mammography inspector certification within nine (9) months of hire or within one (1) FDA training cycle, whichever is longer.  Must maintain FDA inspector certification status.

Employees will be required to pay an agency/union fee.
