How Do I Know If I Cannot Pick A Health Plan?

Some Medicaid clients cannot pick a health plan. This is because of the type of assistance that they get.

You are exempt and cannot pick a Health Plan if:

  • You get veteran's benefits
  • You get "In and Out Medicaid", also known as "Spend down"
  • You get only QMB [Qualified Medicare Beneficiaries] or SLMB120/SLMB135 [Special Low Income Medicare Beneficiaries]
  • You get QDWI [Qualified Disabled Working Individuals]

Another way to know if you are exempt is:

  • You did not get a letter telling you to pick a health plan.
  • Your name did not appear on a letter sent to your house.

If you have questions about your exempt status, contact the Care Management Enrollment Call Center toll free at 1-888-901-4999.
